I'm quietly working in my studio this summer. It feels good to have some uninterrupted time. I won't be traveling to any craft shows but instead traveling a bit for fun! Here are a few works in progress.
What a treat to see your workspace. I was working up to asking about how you carve,(like, whittle, dremel, chisel, etc.)-- it looks like you do it all! It's so good to know you have lots of studio time -- many wonderful things will emerge.
Thanks for the comment P! I use a bandsaw to rough out the wood and then a belt sander and foredom to shape with. Recently i splurged on a spindle sander and that is wonderful. After thats all done I sand by hand and do a little detailing with chisels and scroll saw. Since I like to add details with mica, metal and paint the power tools are a big time saver with the carving phase. It still seems like I'm really slow though!
I'm a mixed media artist living in the Southwestern United States. When I'm not in my studio I like to spend time outside observing the goings on of the bugs and birds and the passing clouds. The intricate balance between humans and the natural world is an ongoing theme in my artwork. I try to walk lightly on the earth.
